Balcke-Dürr Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) for Ultra-Supercritical Coal Power Plants

Electrostatic precipitators (ESP) are particulate collection devices that remove particles from a flue gas by using the force of an induced  electrostatic charge. ESPs have a highly efficient filtration performance with a minimal reduction of pressure loss. They can easily remove fine particulate matter such as dust and smoke from the flue gas stream.
  • Balcke-Dürr/ROTHEMÜHLE® ESPs are state-of-the-art technology with a large number of patented developments
  • Our ESPs fulfill all current requirements with high dust removal efficiency and minimal power consumption
  • High security for our costumers with an experience of more than 1,000 supplied plants worldwide
  • Extreme stability in operation-long-lasting with low maintenance - due to robust design and proven components
  • Future targeted through modernizations which are part of the design concept such as Bi-Corona®
DELTA WING® TECHNOLOGY

Balcke-Dürr’s DELTA WING® technology homogenizes gas and dust distribution at the ESP inlet and in the raw gas ducts

Increases collection efficiency

Better utilization of the existing total collecting area thanks to the homogenization of the gas and dust distribution

Reduces pressure loss

Partial elimination of guide plates and perforated plates reduces ID fan power consumption by up to 15%

LONG-ELECTRODE TECHNOLOGY

Balcke-Dürr’s large electrode height offers minimal footprint with constant collecting area.

Extension of electrode height  reduces investment costs
  • Smaller foundation
  • Reduced electrical wiring
  • Smaller support structure
BI-CORONA® TECHNOLOGY

Balcke-Dürr’s Bi-Corona ® technology with optimized electrode geometry separates the  ionization and collection zones in the ESP.

Reduces electric auxiliary power consumption

Reduction in auxiliary power consumption by up to 10 % thanks to optimized electrode geometry

Increases collection efficiency for fine particulate PM2.5

Separation of ionization and collection zones results in lower electric wind and prevents collected PM2.5 fine particles from being entrained
