Complete Power Generation Units
RAFAKO S.A. offers complete power generation units fired with coal, oil, gas or biomass and based on various boiler systems including sub- and supercritical Pulverized Coal Combustion (PC) boilers, Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boilers and stoker fired boilers. Within the scope of technology RAFAKO is capable to design and deliver equipment and plants of so called 'boiler island' including boiler and flue gas cleaning systems.
The concept drawing of 2 x 900 MW supercritical units for Opole Power Plant
In the begining of 2012 RAFAKO SA as a leader of consortium signed its biggest ever contract for turn-key delivery of complete 2 x 900MW power generation units to Opole Power Plant.
Previous EPC projects include two combined heat and power generation units based on CFB boilers for Polpharma Pharmaceutical Plant in Starogard Gdanski, coal and biomass firwed duo-block for Kielce CHP Plant as well as a number of boiler, FGD and ESP projects to clients in Poland and Europe.
Boilers
1. Hard coal
The majority of boiler constructions developed by RAFAKO S.A. is based on hard coal. The early years saw the domination of small stoker fired boilers but later on, we observed the increasing number of pulverised fuel, natural circulation boilers, once-through and finally fluidised bed boilers. The common characteristics of all modern boiler technologies include their low pollutants emission level, high efficiency and availability. Despite the increasing share of natural gas in the fuel structure, hard coal is still considered as a main fuel applied in Polish power and heat generating facilities. It is associated with the continuous improvement of coal quality which, combined with modern, "clean" coal combustion methods and its low cost contributes to the "revival" of this fossil fuel.
2. Lignite
Lignite is considered as a cheapest fossil fuel. The location of a power plant near the open pit mine enables the most cost-effective generation of large amount of power. That is why the share of this fuel in the overall fuel structure is still significant and recent, enormous modernisation investments in Polish, Czech and German lignite basins prove that it is even likely to grow.
