Our group of organic chemicals from diverse raw material sources include:
Petrochemicals: Plasticizers/Extenders/Modifiers for PVC, polyurethanes, polyesters, epoxies, and elastomers. Polymer modifiers for sealants, adhesives, roofing membranes, and rejuvenation of road asphalt. Aromatic non-carcinogenic solvents.
Coal Tar Products: Crude tar for distillation to refined products, refined tar for road paving, creosote oil for wood preservation, naphthalenes for sulphonation, and coal tar pitch for roofing.
Products
Our specialty Aromatic Oil blends represent one of our major product lines. These products are used by compounders to extend aromatic polyurethanes, epoxy resins, aromatic based rubbers, PVC plastisols and unsaturated polyester resins.
Compounders and formulators of polymeric materials generally use these products to:
- Lower resin formulation costs
- Change resin viscosity profiles to improve processing and application properties
- Impart hydrophobic properties
- To “wet” mineral fillers, allowing for higher filler loadings
Crowley also offers a line of products derived from Coal Tar, a by-product from Metallurgical Coke production. These Coal Tar Products are used in a variety of applications including roofing and coatings, corrosion inhibitors and refractory.

- Inhibitor J – a crude methylquinoline used extensively in oilfield products as a corrosion inhibitor
- Coal Tar Pitch – used as a binder or impregnation pitch in refractory products, roofing and coatings applications
- Naptha and Light Oil – with high percentages of Benzene used as a building block to produce various chemical compounds
- Cresylic Acid – which is used in disinfectants, solvents, oilfield chemicals and mining
Crowley also has various other products for use as additives into the polymer modified bitumen roofing, coatings, and adhesives.

- Viplex 521: General purpose aromatic oil extender for high oil loading polyurethane systems such as Tire Fill
- Viplex 529: An ultra low viscosity diluent of polyurethane systems with excellent wetting properties
- Viplex 541: A general purpose aromatic oil extender for high oil loading polyurethane systems such as Tire Fill
- Viplex 222: A general purpose polyurethane extender with a moderate viscosity meeting all AQS standards
- Viplex 962: A general purpose polyurethane extender with a moderate viscosity meeting all AQS standards
- Viplex 222 HV: A general purpose high viscosity extender with excellent compatibility at high oil loadings meeting all AQS standards
- Viplex 530A: A general purpose polyurethane extender with a moderate viscosity
- Viplex 50: An extremely low volatile rejuvenating oil for high recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) mixes
- Viplex 222 Ultra: Product has a hydroxyl content of 29 to improve the physical properties and hydrophobicity of pMDI resins.
- Vycel U 2000: A low viscosity diluent with low odor and no color.
- Vycel E: A low viscosity diluent of polyurethane systems with excellent particle wetting.
- Vycel: A low viscosity diluent of polyurethane systems with excellent particle wetting.
- Vycel U: A low viscosity diluent of polyurethane systems with excellent particle wetting.
- Viplex 200: A general purpose polyurethane / epoxy extender to help increase formulation viscosity.
- Viplex 223: General purpose extender for higher loading polyurethane systems and PVC plastisols.
- Viplex 525-24: A general purpose extender where good water resistance is required in polyurethane systems.
- Viplex LS: A low viscosity diluent of polyurethane and epoxy systems yielding excellent compatibility within the formulation.
- Viplex 1700: An ultra low viscosity diluent of polyurethane systems.
Coal Tar Products:
- Coal Tar Pitch 90: A coal tar derivative that is a mixture of hydrocarbons and finely divided carbon used in refractory products and roofing.
- Coal Tar Pitch 110: A coal tar derivative that is a mixture of hydrocarbons and finely divided carbon used in refractory products and roofing.
- Coal Tar Pitch 120: A coal tar derivative that is a mixture of hydrocarbons and finely divided carbon used in refractory products and roofing.
- Petroleum Pitch: Complex mixture of numerous aromatic hydrocarbons used as a binder and impregnation pitch in refractory products.
- Inhibitor J: Crude methylquinoline used extensively in oilfield products as a corrosion inhibitor.
- Cresylic Acid: A mixture of phenols obtained from coal tar used in disinfectants, solvents, oilfield chemicals and mining.
- Naptha and Light Oil: With high percentages of benzene, used as a building block to produce various chemical compounds.

- Vestoplast 828: An amorphous polyalphaolefin (APOA) fully saturated with no double bonds. It provides a number of advantages in modified bitumen roofing compounds.
- Vestoplast 891: An amorphous polyalphaolefin (APOA) fully saturated with no double bonds. It provides a number of advantages in modified bitumen roofing compounds.
- Polytac R500: A thermoplastic polyolefin of valuein adhesives, sealants, and roofing compounds. It has excellent compatibility with petroleum hydrocarbon resins, rosin, polybutenes, petroleum waxes and many other polymers and fillers.
