Jokowi will focus to improve Indonesia's human resources in 2019

The President said the Government will focus to improve human resources in 2019. This is because the Government in 2015-2018 focused to build infrastructure across the country.

"Infrastructure is important, because it is the foundation to compete with other countries," said Jokowi in the event of granting certificates of competency for the participants of the internship in the Balai Besar Pengembangan Latihan Kerja (BBPLK), Bekasi city, Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

According to him, almost the entire budget of the Government in 2015-2018 was spent for infrastructure development. Therefore, he was sent message to the Ministry of Labor that in year 2019 the Government will focus to build and improve human resources. "We cannot rely on natural resources to compete with the world," said Jokowi.

He called Indonesia's human resources have the potential to compete. He said, this year, 60 percent of the population of Indonesia are working age population. In the year 2040 projected working age population reach 195 million people. "This could be a great power, but also be a problem if there is no development of human resources," he said.

Jokowi said the workforce candidate competency test is part of the development of competent human resources. Because, before becoming a professional workforce, workforce candidate it must have passed the examination in the field. "This workforce candidate ability has been tested, so no need to doubt."

In that occasion, Jokowi is also test one of the participants who pass competence. The name of the participant is Boby, who have the certificate of graduation competency tests as a banking customer service. "I was taught to smile, greet customers, and assist them," said Boby in the presence of the President.
