How does Sturdy work?

Users can interact with Sturdy in two ways:

1. As ‘depositors’ who supply assets like USDC they’d like to earn interest on.

2. As ‘borrowers’ who borrow assets like USDC and provide assets like ETH as collateral.

Sturdy stakes the collateral provided by borrowers to earn yield. For example, if a borrower deposits ETH as collateral, Sturdy stakes it in the Ethereum 2.0 Beacon Chain via Lido. The yield generated from collateral is used to provide interest to depositors. As a result, borrowers never have to pay interest.

Lower fees

One of Sturdy’s core advantages is offering feeless loans: borrowers pay no interest, deposit, or withdrawal fees. But users still have to pay gas fees, which can be hundreds of dollars on Ethereum mainnet. This would exclude many users with smaller positions from using our protocol. They are most useful when projects are launching straightforward ERC20 like tokens on new chains where they do not already have tokens. Several two way bridges can be deployed for each token.

(2) Router - The Router has these significant features: It can allow assets transfers between any two or more chains.; It can work with pre-existing assets on blockchains, by using liquidity pools for those assets.; It can also work with Bridged assets smart contract, where Multichain is responsible for minting assets on chains.; The Router can include both native and Bridged assets. This allows inclusion of assets that might have been generated with a third party bridge (though we would need to understand what bridges were originally used).

(3) 'anyCall' Crosschain Contract Calls - Projects can now make cross-chain contract calls, all with the security of Multichain's MPC network.

(4) Crosschain NFT Bridges and Router - We now offer a bridge for NFT's (both ERC721 and ERC1155 smart contract standards). We also now have a Router for NFT's.

Description: The protocol integrates with any interest accrual token, such as Compound's cTokens, AAVE's aTokens and Yearns strategies, to create two new interest-bearing instruments, one with a fixed-rate, Tranche A, and one with a variable rate, Tranche B.

The Tranche app is currently integrated with Compound on Ethereum, Aave on Polygon, and Yearn on Fantom, offering two tranches for each listed asset. When you deposit an asset into the Tranche protocol, it is transferred automatically to the relevant protocol and starts generating yield instantly. In return, you receive a Tranche token that is redeemable, plus any yield generated, at any point - perpetually - back to the underlying asset that was deposited. The yield depends on the type of Tranche you deposit into, fixed Tranches give you a predictable rate, while variable Tranches depend on market conditions and the fixed Tranche deposits, so they might be significantly lower or higher. For example, if you deposit DAI into Tranche A, you receive "Tranche A cDAI - ACDAI" tokens that guarantee you the displayed fixed rate, in addition to any additional SLICE rewards (described here). While if you deposit DAI into Tranche B, you receive "Tranche B cDAI - BCDAI" tokens, in addition to any additional SLICE rewards if found.

To use Fantom markets, you will need to use the Fantom bridge to move your tokens from the Ethereum mainnet to the Fantom. After moving your assets to Fantom, you can buy different instruments on Tranche, trade on the Quickswap DEX, and explore other applications on the Fantom network.
