I'm here to let you know that yes, Adwords, Yahoo and most other PPC networks that you use and get us to place your tracking code on our thank you page in affiliate programs, will track inaccurately.
For example, you'll sometimes find that Adwords will track a sale, then you'll check your Clickbank account, and find that you haven't been credited a sale.
Or, you'll find that according to Adwords, you've made no sales, yet Clickbank will tell you've made 3 sales.
The reason the tracking is inaccurate is because Adwords and Clickbank do not work together. As far as Google adwords is concerned, if someone clicks on your ad, then clicks on another affiliates ad, before purchasing, then the last affiliate link that got clicked gets credited with the sale. Yet, your tracking code is still on the thank you page, so Google will track it as though a sale is made.
So what I tend to recommend is that you take the Google Adwords (and all other ppc tracking) with a grain of salt. That means, just use it as an estimate. It'll give you a strong indication, but if you want 100% accuracy as to which keywords are tracking best for you, you'll need to use Clickbank tracking ids.
What the tracking id does is allows you to see which one of your adgroups is responsible for the sales that you make. That way you'll know which keywords are profitable and which ones aren't.
You can easily see the Clickbank tracking ids in your stats by clicking on any day or pay period within your Clickbank account, or by using Clickbank analytics.
To add a tracking id to any of your links, all you need to do is use our hoplink generator and add in your tracking ids.
Soon you'll be able to add a tracking id to each of your affiliate links on your website. This will greatly affect your profits and focus if you use it right.
All the best to your success,
