Advantages of Using Auertech Portable Washing Machine

Auertech is a brand that produces portable washing machines. These machines are designed to be compact and easy to use, making them a convenient option for people who live in apartments or small spaces where a traditional washing machine may not be feasible.

The Auertech portable washing machine typically has a capacity of around 10-12 lbs, which is enough to wash a few outfits or a set of sheets at a time. They are usually equipped with a timer and multiple wash programs, including a gentle cycle for delicate fabrics.

To use an Auertech portable washing machine, you typically need to fill it with water, add detergent, and then add your clothes. The machine will agitate the clothes to clean them, and then drain the dirty water before rinsing the clothes with clean water. Overall, Auertech portable washing machines can be a great option for those who want a more convenient way to do laundry in a small space. However, it's important to note that they may not be as efficient or effective as traditional washing machines, and they may not be suitable for large households or heavy use.

Benefits of Using Portable Washing Machine

A portable washing machine is a compact and lightweight laundry appliance that can be easily moved from one location to another. It is designed for small loads of laundry and is ideal for use in apartments, RVs, boats, or small homes where space is limited.

Portable washing machines typically have a capacity of 5 to 12 pounds, which is enough for a few pieces of clothing or a small load of laundry. They come in two types: top-loading and front-loading. Some models also have a built-in dryer or can be used with a separate spin dryer.

Portable washing machines are powered by electricity and can be plugged into a standard outlet. They have a simple control panel and can be operated easily with a few buttons. They are also designed to be energy-efficient, using less water and electricity than full-sized washing machines.

One of the benefits of a portable washing machine is its portability, allowing it to be easily moved and stored when not in use. It can also save time and money by eliminating the need to go to a laundromat. Additionally, it is a more eco-friendly option compared to larger machines, as it uses less water and electricity.

Portable washing machines are available for purchase online or in-store, and come in a range of sizes, features, and price ranges. Some popular brands include Panda, Haier, and Magic Chef. It's important to consider the capacity, features, and portability when selecting a model that meets your needs.

Benefits of Using 3.5Cu.Ft Compact Refrigerator

A 3.5 cu.ft compact refrigerator is a small-sized refrigerator that is designed for use in compact spaces such as dorm rooms, small apartments, or offices. It has a storage capacity of 3.5 cubic feet, which is enough space to store drinks, snacks, and small food items.

Compact refrigerators typically feature a single door and may include a small freezer compartment for storing frozen items. They also typically have adjustable shelves and temperature controls, allowing you to customize the interior layout to suit your needs.

A 3.5 cu.ft compact refrigerator is energy-efficient and can help to save on energy costs compared to larger refrigerators. It is also portable and can be easily moved from one location to another, making it a versatile and convenient option for those in need of a small-sized refrigerator.

3.5 cu.ft compact refrigerators are available for purchase online and in select stores. They come in a variety of colors and styles to suit different décor preferences and can be a practical and space-saving addition to any small living space.

Benefits of using the humidifier for a large bedroom or room

Humidifiers are a popular choice for those looking to improve the air quality in their bedrooms or other living spaces. They work by adding moisture to the air, which can help alleviate symptoms of dry skin, allergies, asthma, and other respiratory issues.

When selecting a humidifier for a large bedroom or room, it's important to choose a model that can adequately humidify the space without creating too much humidity, which can lead to mold and other issues. Look for a humidifier with a large tank capacity that can provide at least 12-24 hours of continuous misting.

Ultrasonic humidifiers are a popular choice for bedroom use because they are quiet and energy-efficient. They use high-frequency vibrations to create a fine mist that is released into the air. Cool mist humidifiers are also a good choice, particularly for those with children or pets, as they do not produce hot water or steam.

It's also important to choose a humidifier with easy-to-use controls, and features such as auto shut-off and a timer can be helpful for ensuring safe and convenient use. A humidistat or hygrometer is also a useful feature, as it can help you monitor the humidity levels in your room and adjust the humidifier accordingly.

Overall, a humidifier can be a great addition to a large bedroom or living space, providing relief from dry air and improving overall air quality. When choosing a humidifier, consider factors such as tank capacity, type of humidifier, ease of use, and safety features to ensure you select the best model for your needs.

Simple Procedure to Help Make the Right Choice Rawhide Lamp Shades the First Time

The right rawhide lamp shade can make a perfect lamp. But the wrong size shade can make a beautiful lamp look out of balance. And ordering the wrong size lampshade is inconvenient and expensive. Make the right choice the first time.

Our specialty is rustic lighting and southwestern rawhide lamp shades but the technique we use will work with any lamp shade, rawhide or otherwise. Give it a try to help choose the right shade for your lamp even before you order. Follow this simple procedure to help make the right choice the first time.

First, we need to understand how lampshades are measured. You will need three measurements, bottom diameter, top diameter and height. The height of a shade should be measured straight up and down vertically, not along the slant.

Measuring Tip #1: The reason we measure height up and down, "vertically" is that the height measurement of you lamp from bulb socket base to top of harp is probably the minimum vertical height you will want to cover with your shade.

Measuring Tip #2: The height of your lamp can be adjusted with a shorter or taller harp to be able to use a standard shade rather than ordering a custom lampshade in many cases.

Now, here is the trick to ordering the right shade. You probably have an idea of the approximate size, so simply consult a list of rawhide lamp shades and select the one you are considering. Each shade's measurements should be listed as described above.

Next, make a simple two-dimensional "flat" pattern the size of the shade out of paper or cardboard. For example, use the lower edge of the cardboard for the base line. Measure up the height of the shade and draw a horizontal line parallel to the base line which will represent the top edge of the shade. Now draw a vertical line straight up and down from base line or to the top edge line. If you imagine the base line, vertical line and top edge line as the capital letter "I" you are on the right track.

The next step is to mark the top and bottom dimensions of the shade on your pattern so that you get the correct slant for the edge of the shade. From the center line measure and mark the top diameter of the shade. If the top diameter is 5" then measure to the left and right of the center line along the top edge line 2.5" on both sides and make a mark. Those points are the top corners of your pattern. Repeat along the baseline using the shade's bottom diameter. If it seems confusing, it's really not, but very simple and quick. See our full color shade measuring graphic for a visual aid.

Finally, cut out the pattern and have someone hold it in place over the lamp, while you step back and look. Even though it is flat, you will be able to get a feel for how the shade will look on your lamp and order with confidence. It's not full proof but it is a quick and easy way to make sure that you are on the right track in your shade size selection. This simple idea has helped our clients save a lot of aggravation and money over the years and we trust it will benefit you too.

How to Choose the Right Basic Kitchen Equipment?

A basic kitchen needs a selection of pots and pans, some basic gadgets, and a collection of common spices and condiments.

Pots and Pans

A minimum set includes a small frying pan, a one-quart saucepan with cover, a two-quart saucepan with cover, a large frying pan with cover, and a large pot (for spaghetti, stew, pot roast, or homemade soup.) If you are cooking for more than one person, get two each of the frying pans and saucepans. Covers are optional for the frying pans, but try to get a cover to fit at least one.

Good quality pans spread the heat evenly so that food does not burn in area of the pan and stay undercooked in another. The bottom of a good pan sits flat on the stove. Cheap pans wear out fast and cost more in the long run.

Stainless steel pans with a porcelain coating or a copper bottom are excellent. Stay away from aluminum pans. They get bent out of shape easily and do not last. There have also been some health warnings about cooking in aluminum, but no real proof of any danger.

When using pans with a non-stick coating, turn the heat up only as far as is necessary, and only use wooden or plastic tools. Wipe the pan clean in soapy water. A plastic or nylon net scrubber can be used, but never use steel wool pads.

If you do not burn the food onto the pan, and you wash it while the food is still fresh and moist, it will be easy to clean. If you have birds as pets, you may want to avoid non-stick coatings. If you use them, be sure not to overheat them. The coating can release fumes that can kill a bird.

Some other useful tools are a slow cooker, a wok (for Chinese cooking), toaster, microwave, blender, food processor, electric mixer, and an electric knife.

There are also bread machines available at reasonable prices that produce a fresh hot loaf of bread rapidly. Most machines also have a delay setting to allow one to place the ingredients in the machine hours before the bread is needed, so the machine finishes just in time for dinner.

Basic Gadgets

You will need some wooden spoons. Get a selection of sizes and handle lengths. These are always handy and they will not damage your non-stick coatings. Unlike metal tools, they do not get too hot to handle.

You will also want a collection of spatulas in different sizes and shapes. The lightweight spatula that will flip an egg may not be strong enough for a hamburger. Sometimes a narrow spatula is all that will fit in a pan, and sometimes a wide one is needed to get under whatever needs to be turned or lifted.

Whisks come in various sizes. They are very handy for mixing lightweight ingredients quickly, and are easier to get out and later to clean than a blender or mixer.

Get a good set of knives. Cheap ones make the job of cutting more difficult and they wear out fast. With the knives, you will need a good cutting board. A cutting board provides a flat working surface and protects your counters.

Plastic cutting boards are easier to clean than wooden ones. Never cut vegetables that will be eaten raw on a cutting board that was used to cut raw meat unless you thoroughly clean the board first.

You will also need a selection of measuring tools. Measuring cups for dry ingredients and measuring spoons come in sets. Get a set of each. You will need a measuring cup for liquids, too. A one-cup measure is probably sufficient, but two-cup and quart measures are also useful.

If you want to be precise in your measurements for dietary requirements, buy a food scale and measure your portions until you get used to the sizes and can estimate accurately without weighing everything.

A lot of canned products are now being packaged with pop tops, but get a good can opener for the others. There are some electrics that sell for reasonable prices and do a good job, but get a manual one too. When the power goes out, it can be frustrating not to be able to open the cans.

Spices and Condiments

Salt and pepper go without saying. Some dried minced onion peps up a lot of recipes. Garlic is available fresh or in dried, chopped form or as a powder. Caution: make sure you know the difference between garlic powder and garlic salt. Garlic powder makes great garlic bread; garlic salt makes VERY salty garlic bread.

Oregano or "Italian Seasoning," gives an Italian flavor to anything. A bay leaf cooked in stew brings out the flavor of the other ingredients. Paprika is a red powder used mainly for appearance, but it has been linked to some health benefits. If you like things hot, try sprinkling some cayenne pepper or chili powder on your food.

Basic condiments include ketchup, mustard, relish and mayonnaise. There are all sorts of mustard varieties available. You can probably find traditional yellow mustard, Dijon, spicy brown, honey, and hot Chinese mustard, just to name a few.

Explore your local market and see what looks good. Be adventurous, but buy the smallest size, so you do not have a lot to discard if you do not like it.

Other condiments to try are steak sauces, barbecue sauces, tartar sauce, and various stir-fry sauces. Read the labels. If sugar is one of the first few ingredients, forget it. Ingredient labels list the ingredients in descending order. The main ingredient is first, then the others, with the least one last.

Benefits of Investing Your Money in CCTV Surveillance Systems

Don't look now! Someone's staring at you from that far wall behind the artificial potted plants in this busy hotel lobby. But there's no need for that furtive glance like you have some lint on your shoulder. There's no need for those tiny furtive steps either. No one's stalking you. It's just the hotel's CCTV surveillance system.

The hotel has recently been caught up in the wave of video surveillance. That someone staring at you from across the room is just the camera from the newly installed CCTV surveillance systems. In hotels and in places where there is high human traffic, state of the art CCTV surveillance systems have been mounted for purposes of safety and as crime deterrents.

That Constant Fear

The world, it seems, is gripped by fear of terrorist attacks. In fact, after 9/11, it seems to be a Herculean effort to make life go on - do business, travel, interact with others in densely populated places.

After all, if there's anything 9/11 has shown us, it is that a bomb could go off in a sidewalk while you are having an al fresco lunch with a colleague, or blow up the trans-continental plane you are in while it's in in the air, cruising at 125,000 feet.

The security guys you see milling about do not reassurance you. You have always felt that security guys patrolling public places have a very limited capacity for preventing crime. They only act when something happens in their line of sight. By then, however, you'd be beyond help.

You're Safe Now

Installed in a strategic spot and equipped with cutting edge technology in surveillance cameras, CCTV surveillance systems can record everything that goes on in its line of focus. These recordings can later be retrieved and analyzed to recreate scenes.

Software developers now see the potential of CCTV surveillance systems in preventing a repeat of large-scale terrorism after the 9/11 attack at the World Trade Center. These developers are working hard to develop programs for surveillance systems, among them an important feature known as face recognition.

With face recognition installed in CCTV surveillance systems, it is now easy to recognize certain key features in the face of an individual. This face will be compared to a host of faces from a database of mug shots and photographs.

A person flagged as dangerous can then be prevented from gaining access to buildings or public transportation's, thus thwarting any planned attack or escape.

Big Investment That Pays Off

CCTV surveillance systems today now boast of functionalities not seen in the video surveillance systems of the past. This time, CCTV surveillance systems have

1. Motion detection. This means that the surveillance system only records footage when movement triggers the surveillance system.

2. Resolution as clear as day. Grainy footage is not a problem anymore with some video surveillance cameras featuring 1600 x 1200 dpi, or even more, resolution.

3. Night and infrared vision. Even with low or minimal lighting, these new surveillance systems can record images with infrared technology.

Government administrators are seeing the positive side of surveillance systems. In fact, after 9/11, federal budget is flowing in for these new security measures. There are states which require the installation of surveillance systems in business establishments before these businesses can operate.

So, there is really no need to be afraid. CCTV surveillance systems, those new security guys, have your back. They are always watching.

How to Buy and Install Do-It-Yourself Corian Style Counters?

When it comes to upgrading your kitchen, you don't want to skimp on your countertops. Much more so than appliances, poor quality countertops will prematurely age your kitchen. But if you've been shopping around and looking at Corian pricing, you may be put off by the expense of Corian solid surface kitchen tops.

What you may not know is that you can save thousands of dollars by installing your Corian counters yourself. In fact, there are kits available that make it relatively easy for the do-it-yourselfer to install high quality Corian style counters. But how do you gauge reputable companies? Here are five tips for picking a winner:

1. Customization: The company you choose should make your Corian style counters to fit your kitchen's specific size and shape. They should come with a 1-1/2 inch front edge, and be prepared and ready for joining at the intersecting corners.

2. Selection and Pricing: The company should have a wide variety of Corian colors from which you can choose, and should offer samples at a minimal cost so that you can make your final selection. The pricing should run about 50 to 60 percent of what you would pay to buy Corian counters and have them professionally installed.

3. Communication: You should be able to send the company a drawing of your kitchen layout and the dimensions of your countertops by fax or email. The company should then review your information and provide you with a list of the materials you will need to install your Corian style counters. They should be available to answer questions throughout and after the installation process.

4. Shipping: The shipping charges should be based on your location, and be shipped using a dependable and reputable carrier. Your Corian style counters should be packed in a wooden pallet that is fully enclosed and covered with top boards, plywood ends, and cross-bracing on each side. The crate should have a form core that will absorb any shocks encountered during shipping.

5. Instruction: While installing Corian style counters isn't exceptionally difficult for a seasoned do-it-yourselfer, it does require precise instructions. Ideally, the company you choose should provide written instructions (either on their website or in a booklet), as well as a DVD demonstration video. The best companies also hold Web seminars to help you learn how to install your solid surface kitchen tops.

6. Warranty: The company you choose should offer a ten-year warranty, providing you install the countertops according to their instructions. Most companies require that you keep leftover material from the installation, since replacement material won't be an exact match to the Corian colors you chose.

7. Testimonials: Corian style counters are a big investment, even if you choose to install them yourself. Look for testimonials from the company you're considering, as well as any media coverage they may have received. If they have a solid track record of satisfied customers, chances are you'll be able to count yourself among them.

Why You Need a Ultimate Cloth?

I'll be the first to confess that I'll never win an award for housekeeper of the year. My home is never filthy, but it has what some friends kindly describe as the "lived in" look. There always seems to be a pile of papers on the dining room table, kids' toys in the living room, and a load of clothes waiting to be folded. It's not that I don't enjoy having a clean and mess-free house; rather, it's that I just seem to have other priorities.

I have a demanding job, so that takes up more hours in the day than I even like to think about. And then there are school activities, chauffeuring my son to sporting events, and errands to run.

But at the root of it all, I've figured out, is that I always end up feeling discouraged when I clean. Why? Because it can so often feel pointless. I can't count the number of times when I've spent hours cleaning my windows, only for the sun to come up the next day and reveal the streaks on the windows. Ditto for my shower doors. It's frustrating to put in that kind of time and wind up with a less-than-desirable result. I've tried using tricks my mother taught me, like using newspapers instead of paper towels, but that offers only a marginal improvement. What I really need is the ultimate cloth for cleaning - streak free cloths that will allow me to wet it, wring it out, wipe it down, and walk away.

If often imagine that, if I could find the ultimate cloth - perhaps made from a new mircofiber or mirafiber - I would finally feel the motivation to keep everything clean and shiny. This ultimate cloth would be totally green and eco-friendly, with no chemicals or other harmful elements. It would be washable and bleachable, so that I could just toss it in the laundry and be able to use it over and over again. This ultimate cloth would also be versatile, so that I could not only use it on my windows and shower doors, but also on my countertops, stainless steel, mirrors, and ceramic tile.

These streak free cloths would be both tough and tender - tough on dirt, yet gentle enough so that it won't scratch or damage the surface I'm cleaning. They would have a magnet effect, so that they're able to grab and hold dirt, dust, and grime, while at the same time being very absorbent.

Frankly, I get tired of a cleaning process where it seems like I'm just pushing dirt and dust around and never really capturing it. In my vision of a perfect world, I'd be able to get a microfiber ultimate cloth string mop that would clean tile floors, laminates, and hardwood floors without chemicals and using just water.

With the latest advances in fiber technology, I wouldn't be surprised if my ultimate cloth exists. Once I find it, I know that my frustration with cleaning will dissipate, and that I'll be more motivated to keep my windows, countertops, and floors sparkling.

How to Choose a Swimming Pool Enclosure That Are Right for You?

If you own a swimming pool, you know the pleasures of brisk morning laps, afternoons spent watching the kids splash in delight, and weekends entertaining friends out in the backyard. Yet, while the sun and water is delightful, maintaining a pool can be less than enjoyable - and mighty expensive. In addition to chemicals and cleaning supplies, there is the expense of heating the pool in the cooler months and the hassle of dealing with debris falling into the pool. After all, who doesn't dread the prospect of fishing leaves out of the pool in the fall and the murkiness of muddy waters after a hard rain?

Thankfully, there have been great advances in pool maintenance, most notably in low profile swimming pool enclosures. Instead of the labor-intensive and messy process of covering and uncovering the pool with a traditional pool cover, an increasing number of pool owners are turning to swimming pool enclosures that are easy to install and maintain. A telescopic pool enclosure, for example, encloses the pool like a dome but is easily pushed back for full accessibility.

When it comes to a telescopic pool enclosure, there are two basic types: one is installed on tracks laid on either side of the pool, and the other is trackless. In either case, the dome is tall enough (ranging from about 105cm to 185cm) so that you can open the hinged door and enjoy swimming even in inclement weather. Because it is built like a telescope, it's a breeze to push back the enclosure on sunny days.

These kinds of swimming pool enclosures offer more than aesthetic value, however. Your heating bill will be reduced, since the enclosures absorb and retain the sun's heat. You'll also spend less for chemicals, since there will be less water evaporation. One of the most significant benefits is that a telescopic pool enclosure has a child safety lock, which ensures that your pool is safe even when you're not using it. Chances are, though, that you'll be using your pool much more frequently, since the covering and warmth retention make the water inviting even when the weather's bad.

Depending upon the size and type of the enclosure you choose, it takes two people anywhere from about five hours to about fourteen hours to install. When selecting a company that meets the needs for your swimming pool enclosures, choose one that will give you a head start in the installation process. The price of the enclosure should include all of the tools you'll need, perhaps with the exception of an electric drill. You should also receive a complete parts list and comprehensive, step-by-step illustrations of the installation process. The best companies will also provide you with a DVD that demonstrates the key stages of assembly.

There's little doubt that swimming pool enclosures pay for themselves many times over, in terms of actual money saved and in terms of the increased opportunities you'll have to enjoy your pool. So dive right in and explore enclosure solutions that are right for you!

How to Choose a Bathtub That Fit Your Needs?

There are many kinds of bathtubs. You’ll know if it will fit, and whether you will have to redo the tub. Therefore, you may want to get a proposal done so you know that the bathtub will work to fit your needs. In some instances, bathrooms are the smallest rooms in the house so you may want to make the bathtub work for that room. If not maybe, you will want to add onto the room to make it larger so that the bathtub will work for your needs.

How do I know what size of a bathtub to get?

Bathtubs come in all sizes; small to very large it depends on your needs. You want to consider if you want to use your bathtub for a guestroom, master bath, etc. Bathtubs come in a variety of colors so you can’t decide on what shades to fit your needs, until you explore the texture, tone, and trend of your room.

Should I choose a bathtub or shower and what accessories should I consider?

There are many different reasons that a person would choose a bathtub. I like a tub, since you can relax. Other people would take a shower over a bathtub. However, here are some reasons why you may like a bathtub.

You can use a bathtub to soak your body after long hard day at work. It will help you relax your whole body. Put in some bubbles, maybe play some soft music, and just enjoy it.

A bathtub can give you options, since you can add bathroom accessories, such as flora, candles, toys, etc to fill in the gaps. Bathtubs give you the option of using the arena for other special occasions, i.e. you can add a sauna or hot tub in the tub. In addition, you can give your pet a bath in a tub.

How should I choose a bathtub?

When selecting a bathtub for personal use you want to make sure you consider comfort first. Maybe you will want to get a bathtub made for two people so you and your spouse can take a romantic bath together, perhaps light some candles, turn on some soft music, etc. Don’t forget to add the bubbles, since it adds a nice touch. You both will enjoy the romantic evening together.

What are the applied sciences?

A person with a smaller frame may not feel comfortable in larger tubs. Perhaps, the person would enjoy a tub that is low rather than unfathomable ones. On the other hand, a larger person may enjoy profundity while soaking in a tub.

How do I choose the right size?

The archetypal bathtubs are somewhere around fourteen inches widthwise and somewhere around seventeen inches unfathomable. European baths are available with a depth around eighteen inches. Still, you can find deeper bottoms.

How do I choose design?

Bathtubs are designed and crafted with many types of materials. The china styles for example, make up the stall acrylic and fiberglass. Gel veneers balance the composites of marble and the cast-iron.

Benefits of Investing in Corian Style Counters

For many families, the kitchen is the heart of the home. It's a gathering place where kids do homework, events of the day are discussed, and meals are prepared and shared. Because we spend so much time in our kitchens, investing in kitchen home improvement can have a positive impact on our daily lives. High quality and energy efficient appliances can help ease the business of living, while Corian style counters can add both beauty and functionality to the space where we spend so much time.

The Advantages of Corian Style Counters

Corian counters, also known as solid surface kitchen tops, offer a number of advantages over plastic laminate or ceramic tile countertops. Although plastic laminate countertops are fairly durable and inexpensive, they consist of only a single surface layer of color. This surface can fade over time, and can be damaged by cuts from knives or other sharp objects. They can also become damaged from direct heat. Although laminate countertops may look nice when they're first installed, they're not easily repaired and can begin to look worn relatively quickly.

Tile countertops are heat resistant, but using tiles and grout means that the countertop is often uneven. In addition, it can be difficult to clean the grout lines, which can become stained over time. Furthermore, ceramic tile can crack and chip, and replacing damaged tiles is a daunting tasks.

Corian solid surface counters, on the other hand, are nonporous, and so are both heat- and water-resistant. They're smooth for easy cleaning, and generally have no visible seams. Furthermore, because the color goes all the way through the material (instead of a single layer, as is the case with plastic laminate) scratches can be buffed or sanded out. They can also have resistance to mold and bacteria, which ensures that your family isn't inadvertently exposed to illness.

Corian Colors and Corian Pricing

While it's true that plastic laminate countertops come in virtually limitless colors and designs, there are a myriad of Corian colors that are sure to complement your kitchen design. The best way to choose Corian colors is to obtain samples, and then to coordinate with the colors of your cabinets, appliances and walls.

Traditionally, Corian pricing has been high when compared to other types of kitchen tops. However, if you are an accomplished do-it-yourselfer, there are now Corian style counters available that you can install yourself. These kits consist of prefabricated elements based on the design of your specific kitchen, and can contain everything from your Corian style counters to glue to an instructional DVD on installation. Corian solid surface kits cost about half of what you'd pay to buy Corian and have it installed by professionals.

Every home should have a kitchen that reflects the family's lifestyle. Corian style counters can add a beautiful appearance and the type of functionality that today's family needs.

Cleaning With the "Ultimate Cloth" Saves Time, Saves Money and Helps Save the Earth

No one would argue that there's a growing consciousness about the impact that we, as humans, have on the environment. While much of the media's focus has been on greenhouse gas emissions and the ways we can lessen our carbon footprint, less attention has been paid to the impact that conventional cleaning products and methods have on our health and on the environment. Although chlorofluorocarbons have long been recognized as contributing to the depletion of the earth's ozone layer, and have been largely eliminated from consumer products, conventional cleaning products continue to have a detrimental effect on the environment. To that end, there has been a wave of "green cleaning" products entering the marketplace.

Traditional Cleaning Products

Most traditional cleaning products contain a variety of potentially harmful chemicals, in part because they are largely unregulated and in part because there are few labeling requirements. For example, many cleaning products contain phosphates (which are also a primary component of many fertilizers), which can contaminate water and rob lakes and rivers of oxygen. Likewise, many cleaning products with dyes and fragrances contain phthalates, and most incorporate other organic compounds into their formulas. Together, these chemicals can have adverse effects on the neurological functions, respiration, and reproductive organs of humans and wildlife. Our use of several different cleaning agents at once (a window cleaner, a basin cleanser, and a toilet bowl cleaner, for example) can exacerbate the products' effects on our health.

Green Cleaning Products

In response to the growing concern about the chemicals in cleaning products and their adverse effects on our health and on the health of our planet, green cleaning products are being touted. Some companies that make green products ban certain chemicals, and others make it a point to fully disclose all ingredients on labels. What they don't tell you, though, is that it's absolutely possible to have a clean home without using any cleaning products at all. Cleaning without products may take a bit more elbow grease, but water alone will do the trick.

Why Water and a Cloth Works Just as Well

For the environmentally conscious, one of the best cleaning tools is a cloth - some would say the ultimate cloth - that uses mirafiber to produce a streak free, spot free, lint free, and dust free finish. Five Things to Consider When Choosing the Right Plasma TV

If you've been wanting a plasma TV but need the justification to do so, there are numerous reasons for buying plasma TVs. First, of course, is picture quality. Because plasma TVs are made up of individual pixels, each pixel can display any one of billions of colors, making images come to life. Second, plasma TVs are flexible, in that they can display standard TV images, DVD movies, images from games, and - of course - HDTV. Third, plasma TVs take up very little space. You no longer have to have a home theater system that is four feet deep. Plasma TVs are usually less than six inches deep and can easily be mounted on a wall or hung from the ceiling. Fourth, plasma TVs are simply the technology of today. Why spend the little free time you have watching muddy images on an older TV when you can enjoy your favorite shows, movies, and games in bright, crisp color?

Once you've decided to take the plunge, though, how do you go about choosing from among the many plasma TVs on the market? Here are five things to consider:

1. Screen Size

When it comes to plasma TVs, bigger is only better if you have enough room. In this case, "enough room" isn't defined as the space where you will mount your plasma TV, but rather the room between you and the TV. For example, there should be at least eight feet of space between the viewer and a 37-inch plasma screen, and at least 15 feet of space between the viewer and a 50-inch plasma TV.

2. Connections

You should choose a plasma TV that has the kind and number of outlets you need for the other components of your home theater system. Some of the available connections include component video, high-definition multimedia interface, A/V jacks, digital visual interface, and S-video.

3. High Definition

Some plasma TVs come equipped with high-definition tuners, while others are simply HDTV-ready. If you're going to invest in a plasma TV, you should go with high definition. Look for at least 720 pixels as the second number in the resolution description. For example, a 1024 x 768 plasma screen is high definition; an 853 x 480 resolution is not.

4. Mounting

There are several ways to mount plasma TVs, so think about whether you are going to mount yours on a stand, flat against wall, or from the ceiling - then make sure to get the necessary hardware for installation.

5. Enjoy!

Once you've made your selection from among the many plasma TVs on the market and installed it in your home theater, be sure to sit back, relax, and enjoy your new purchase for many years to come!
