In a casino you are risking your money, in hopes of getting a big return, but when buying a car you just want to get your moneys worth, you want a car that will be reliable and dependable. You do not want a car that wont start on cold days or that stalls until its been running for a half hour. 

Make sure to check the undercarriage and under the hood for rust. To a car rust is like cancer. Once rust is found it will spread unless it is cut off and replaced. Under the car and in the engine compartment you will find some rust it is only natural, but you want it to only be surface rust. This means if you take a wire brush to the rusted area you will brush off the rust and get to clean metal.

Next make sure to check the body of the car, for waves and any bubbling in the paint, this would indicate that the car was in an accident or some rust was incorrectly repaired. It is not uncommon for someone selling a car to have rust spots sanded down and painted over to give the car a fresh look, but what will happen is after a month or two the paint will start to bubble as the metal begins to rust again.

Next, look at the motor and mechanical parts under the hood of the car. The engine should be relatively clean from motor oil. If you see large buildups of oil in an area then chances are a head gasket will need to be replaces because of an oil leak.

All electrical and rubber parts should be checked for cracks. Cracks in rubber parts means that the rubber is old and dried out and will probably need to be replaced eventually.

Make sure to ask the owner if he has all the receipts for any work that has been done to the vehicle.

Another important piece of advice is to make sure to take the car for a good test drive. Do not be afraid to drive the car a little hard with the owner with you in the car, chances are they will understand, if they object then maybe there is something with the car they are trying to hide and you should move on to another car.

Many people will tell you that buying a used car is a gamble but if you take a good hard look at each car, and not get impulsive to buy, you can remove any gamble and guarantee yourself a jackpot of a car.

The report cited industry insiders as saying that Samsung SDI has planned to mass-produce electric vehicle batteries with 88% nickel content in 2021. Subsequently, the company will gradually increase the nickel content to 90% or more, and continue to target the global electric vehicle battery market.

The source said that Samsung SDI has begun to supply 21700 cylindrical batteries to a large overseas power tool manufacturer. The most eye-catching is that the battery positive electrode uses " nickel, cobalt, aluminum " materials (ie NCA battery), which contains 90% of nickel.

This is the third South Korean company to develop ultra-high nickel battery technology after LG New Energy and SKI. However, no domestic company has announced the production of ultra-high nickel batteries with a nickel content of 90%.

At least the risk of not having the necessary amount of cell modules available later is a concern for the industry. Europe's manufacturers are expanding their capacity. But where do all the raw materials for batteries and electronics come from?

"The construction of battery cell factories, on the other hand, is already taking place so quickly that overcapacity could threaten in the middle of the decade."

VDA Car Association: Maintaining Global Networking

The German car industry association VDA is in favour of a two-pronged raw material strategy. "In the short and medium term, self-sufficiency in the EU is unrealistic. Although there are initial projects, most of them are still in the planning stage," it says. A scale-back of global connectivity is not an option: "Germany and Europe as export-oriented locations depend on open borders. A principle of foreclosure or pure regionalisation is contrary to the successful model of the European economy."

However, the demands on regional added value and short transport routes are growing. And the EU is also putting pressure on the battery cell issue: talks are underway in the ERMA commodity alliance on a safer supply of valuable minerals. The Vice-Chairman of the European Commission, Maro's Efsovic, and Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton announced the launch of the alliance at the end of September. Recycling instead of energy-intensive replenishment

In the long term, it also plays a role in how well-used batteries are recycled. "With the annual demand for new batteries growing from 40 gigawatt hours today to 500 gigawatt hours by 2030 and a holding period of more than seven years, the raw material question cannot initially be solved by recycling," Kuhnert said. It makes sense to set up already closed recyclablechains in pilot projects. "But industrializing these recyclable circuits poses major challenges for car manufacturers."

VW, for example, is already investing in the issue. In Salzgitter, where the central engine factory will soon have its own cell production, the recycling of battery raw materials is now underway on an experimental basis. It is about aluminium, steel and copper, but also about nickel, manganese and cobalt. Instead of an energy-intensive supply through further mining and global transport, the materials are to be extracted from old parts and continued to be used with "second-life concepts". According to previous plans, 1,200 tons of batteries per year are to be recycled here.

  • Vehicles built from the Ultium system could offer GM-estimated driving ranges of up to 400 miles on a full charge with 0 to 60 mph1 acceleration as low as 3.0 seconds and have battery options from 50 to 200 kilowatt hours.
  • GM’s Ultium cells, arranged in different combinations of flexible modules and battery packs, can provide the energy for every segment on the road today, from performance vehicles to work trucks, with less than one quarter of the propulsion combinations currently used for internal combustion engines.
  • Drive units mostly designed and manufactured in-house will support front-wheel, rear-wheel, all-wheel and performance all-wheel drive applications.

Space-efficient packaging that maximizes room for passengers and cargo.

  • GM’s new Ultium batteries are expected to have some of the highest nickel and lowest cobalt content in a large format pouch cell.
