Viral: Herbal JSH Diklaim Orang Dapat Sembuhkan COVID-19, Ini Penjelasan Dari Sido Muncul

2. Diteliti sejak 4 tahun lalu

Sido Muncul mulai mengembangkan produk-produk herbal food supplement sejak empat tahun lalu.

Viral News: JSH Capsule Herbal Claimed to Cure COVID-19, This is Explained by Sido Muncul Corp.

PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO), a leading pharmaceutical and herbal company in Indonesia, provides an explanation regarding its herbal remedies that people claim can cure coronavirus (COVID-19). Director of Sido Muncul, Irwan Hidayat said this herbal medicine called JSH is actually not intended to cure COVID-19.

"This is not a COVID-19 drug. Something has gone viral for people who consume this," Irwan said at sido muncul office, Jakarta, Saturday (27/6/2020).

1. The beginning of viral news that Herbal JSH can cure COVID-19

Irwan told that three months ago, a friend of his was positive for COVID-19 and then took the JSH Capsule and recovered. The news spread, so many bought JSH Herbs. Many people claim to be cured after trying to take this JSH Capsule.

Because of these news, Sido Muncul then gave this herbal medicine to the Semarang City Government, Central Java, for quarantined patients at Major Cityhall. Of the 45 patients who were positive for COVID-19, 40 were declared cured.

"The experiences and testimonials of COVID-19 patients who are cured, we can not just ignore. The experience of those who recovered from COVID-19 after taking JSH Capsules, the number of people infected and the lack of medication for COVID-19 prompted us to distribute JSH Capsules to several hospitals," Irwan said.

2. Researched since 4 years ago

Sido Muncul began to develop herbal food supplement products since four years ago. JSH capsules are one of its products.

"One of the ideas is to develop products to detox or eliminate toxins in the body. The idea is a product that contains alkali, with high PH. Because alkaline products with high PH are very good for health," said Irwan.

Alkaline foods are recommended for the elderly, people with cancer, or they are often impaired in health.

"This idea came from The President Commissioner of Sido Muncul, Jonatha Sofjan Hidayat. Even those who found the ingredients for the JSH Capsules are also Pak Sofjan Hidayat. Therefore we register this herbal medicine to BPOM (National Agency of Drug and Food Control) with the name JSH Capsules," said Irwan. "We will continue to conduct JSH Capsule research with research institutions," said Irwan.

3. Already marketed and can be purchased

Irwan explained, JSH capsules are not activated carbon so they are soluble in water and can be consumed long term. "Our R&D successfully processed from charcoal material to alkaline products that have high PH," said Irwan. This product itself is marketed at a price of Rp150,000 ($11) per bottle with the contents of 50 capsules.

Samsung SDI / LG New Energy / SKI's Ultra-High Nickel Technology Route "Speeding"

Samsung SDI, LG New Energy, SKI and other power battery "Korea Gang" are marching on the technical route of ultra-high nickel batteries.

On December 22, according to Korean media ETNews, Samsung SDI plans to start supplying cylindrical batteries with 91% nickel content in positive electrodes to global electric vehicle manufacturers . The report cited industry insiders as saying that Samsung SDI has planned to mass-produce electric vehicle batteries with 88% nickel content in 2021. Subsequently, the company will gradually increase the nickel content to 90% or more, and continue to target the global electric vehicle battery market.

The source said that Samsung SDI has begun to supply 21700 cylindrical batteries to a large overseas power tool manufacturer. The most eye-catching is that the battery positive electrode uses " nickel, cobalt, aluminum " materials (ie NCA battery), which contains 90% of nickel.

This is the third South Korean company to develop ultra-high nickel battery technology after LG New Energy and SKI. However, no domestic company has announced the production of ultra-high nickel batteries with a nickel content of 90%.

As for LG New Energy, on December 17, it was also reported from Korean media ETNews that LG New Energy plans to supply Tesla with its ultra-high nickel NCMA batteries in 2021. The report pointed out that the nickel content in the positive electrode material of the battery produced by LG New Energy has been increased to 90%, and the cobalt content has been reduced to less than 5%. A single charge can provide a cruising range of more than 600 kilometers.

LG New Energy plans to start mass production of NCMA batteries in the second quarter of 2021, and start supplying them to Tesla in the second half of the year, mainly to Tesla’s factories in China, which are expected to be used in China-made Model Y and next-generation electric Car models.

The news of SKI's launch of ultra-high nickel batteries came earlier. In August of this year, some Korean media said that SKI is working to develop a new type of NCM battery before the end of the year. The nickel content is 88%, which is 8% higher than the NCM 811 battery, the cruising range is increased to 500km - 600km, and the cobalt content is 6%, which is higher than that of the NCM811 battery. Reduce by 4%.

Also in August, SKI announced the successful commercialization of the world's first NCM9 (9/0.5/0.5) battery with a nickel content of 90%.

In addition, OFweek Lithium Grid noted that, as the current global leader in electric vehicles and one of the important customers of many battery manufacturers, Tesla's ambitions for ultra-high nickel batteries are no longer a secret.

On this year's Battery Day, Musk unveiled his ultra-high nickel ultimate state battery with 100% nickel content. According to foreign media reports last week, Tesla will send a delegation to Indonesia in January next year to discuss nickel purchases with the local government.

It can be seen that the power battery "Korean Gang" has already precipitated the technology of ultra-high nickel batteries, and now there is Tesla's action "assist", the "Korean Gang" is bound to run wild on the ultra-high nickel battery technology route.

The last thing to say is that although the "Korea Gang" may be one step ahead of its high-nickel technology, the safety issue cannot be underestimated. After all, Samsung SDI and LG New Energy are still stuck in safety issues.

More Batteries for Europe - The Big Problem for Electric Car Manufacturers

The long-term opportunities of e-mobility depend on the supply of green electricity – and on sufficient supply of battery raw materials. But where are they supposed to come from? Would self-sufficiency in Europe be conceivable?

The long-term opportunities of e-mobility depend on the supply of green electricity – and on sufficient supply of battery raw materials. But where are they supposed to come from? Would self-sufficiency in Europe be conceivable?

It would be a terrifying scenario for the car manufacturers'self-proclaimed "e-offensive" that is just getting underway: more and more consumers are interested in electric driving, but battery production can hardly keep up.

Surprised by the pick-up in demand, many providers could have supply problems – similar to the current situation with microchips. At least the risk of not having the necessary amount of cell modules available later is a concern for the industry. Europe's manufacturers are expanding their capacity. But where do all the raw materials for batteries and electronics come from?

Putting more emphasis on intra-European extraction

One idea: to promote more materials right on the continent, especially in times of brittle global supply chains and high dependence on Asian suppliers. Eurobattery Minerals (EBM) is pursuing this approach. The Swedish mining and exploration company wants to increase the level of self-sufficiency in nickel, cobalt and copper for batteries in electric cars. The aim is also to increase intra-European extraction of rare earths, for example in electric motors.

According to the company, this is also about the standards for dismantling. "The main suppliers of these materials are currently China, Congo and Chile, where the raw materials are extracted under devastating conditions," eBM said. Non-governmental and UN organisations have often condemned exploitation in sometimes appalling ecological and humanitarian circumstances, and some political actors also use force to make enormous profits from "conflict raw materials". EBM CEO Roberto Garcia Martinez promises a "focus on ethical production and traceability".

Can single provision be successful at all?

But even if control in Europe is better, is a raw material source exclusively from its own sources realistic in view of the expected battery volumes? Martinez believes this. EBM has launched mining projects in Sweden, Finland and northern Spain with researchers – the company has recently been listed in Germany. Especially in Finland, industry expert Ferdinand Dudenhöffer also sees even more potential in "battery mining" and processing. BASF is also involved in projects there.

The Federal Institute for Geosciences and Raw Materials (BGR) considers complementary funding to be important in Europe. However, it is another question as to whether sole provision of e-mobility is successful. "You are still dependent on other suppliers," says Peter Buchholz, head of the German Raw Materials Agency at BGR. "It is good that additional capacities are being built up in Europe. But projects need to be cost-competitive." Nickel is mined in Canada or Australia "to the best available environmental and social standards." And: "Finland is already an interesting location for nickel and cobalt compounds."

So tapping domestic stocks is not entirely new. Felix Kuhnert of the consulting firm PwC stresses: "Economically, it makes sense to build a European supply chain." Even more than the extraction of raw materials, however, "their processing is centralized to the purity required in batteries in China – and would greatly benefit from building Up European capacities." Indirectly, this could therefore play into the hands of competitors in the Far East. "The construction of battery cell factories, on the other hand, is already taking place so quickly that overcapacity could threaten in the middle of the decade."

VDA Car Association: Maintaining Global Networking

The German car industry association VDA is in favour of a two-pronged raw material strategy. "In the short and medium term, self-sufficiency in the EU is unrealistic. Although there are initial projects, most of them are still in the planning stage," it says. A scale-back of global connectivity is not an option: "Germany and Europe as export-oriented locations depend on open borders. A principle of foreclosure or pure regionalisation is contrary to the successful model of the European economy."

However, the demands on regional added value and short transport routes are growing. And the EU is also putting pressure on the battery cell issue: talks are underway in the ERMA commodity alliance on a safer supply of valuable minerals. The Vice-Chairman of the European Commission, Maro's Efsovic, and Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton announced the launch of the alliance at the end of September. Associations, trade unions and non-governmental organisations can join the Alliance.

Recycling instead of energy-intensive replenishment

In the long term, it also plays a role in how well-used batteries are recycled. "With the annual demand for new batteries growing from 40 gigawatt hours today to 500 gigawatt hours by 2030 and a holding period of more than seven years, the raw material question cannot initially be solved by recycling," Kuhnert said. It makes sense to set up already closed recyclablechains in pilot projects. "But industrializing these recyclable circuits poses major challenges for car manufacturers."

VW, for example, is already investing in the issue. In Salzgitter, where the central engine factory will soon have its own cell production, the recycling of battery raw materials is now underway on an experimental basis. It is about aluminium, steel and copper, but also about nickel, manganese and cobalt. Instead of an energy-intensive supply through further mining and global transport, the materials are to be extracted from old parts and continued to be used with "second-life concepts". According to previous plans, 1,200 tons of batteries per year are to be recycled here.

Ceo Herbert Diess has declared overall responsibility within the Group, from procurement to construction to second use. On Friday, Chief Technology Officer Thomas Schmall plans to present further details and goals at the start of the plant. Volkswagen invests more than one billion euros in battery cell production in Salzgitter.
